Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a pool at Midwood?

Yes. Midwood has a seasonal outdoor pool available to guests during the warmer months. Pool use is limited to registered guests only and is subject to posted safety guidelines. Children must be supervised at all times. Pool availability is seasonal and weather-dependent.

Are pets allowed?

Pets are considered on a case-by-case basis and must be approved in advance.

Approved dogs must have excellent recall and be comfortable in a rural environment. Midwood is home to abundant wildlife, including turkey, deer, fox, black squirrels, bobcats, and the occasional bear. Dogs should never be left unattended outdoors and must be under voice or leash control at all times. Unauthorized pets are not permitted.

Is Midwood completely private?

Midwood is a private property reserved exclusively for your group within the areas included in your booking.

Please note: there are a small number of long-term residents (“villagers”) who live on the broader Midwood property in separate, private dwellings. Guest accommodations, outdoor gathering areas, and some amenities included in your reservation are not shared and are reserved solely for your group.

Is there river access?

Yes. Midwood is the only property in the area with direct river access by foot. Guests can walk to the river via two private walking bridges located on the property.

River access is for registered guests only and is subject to seasonal conditions. Swimming, wading, and river use are at your own risk. Children must be supervised at all times, and guests should exercise caution as water levels and currents can change.

Can we get married at Midwood?

Yes. Midwood hosts a select number of weddings each year.

Please reach out directly to inquire about availability, site use, and event guidelines.

Can I have a party or gathering while staying at Midwood?

Small gatherings can often be accommodated during an overnight stay. We’re happy to recommend trusted local caterers and private chefs to support intimate celebrations.

Any gathering over 25 people, or events that involve expanded use of the house and grounds beyond standard lodging, require prior approval and a separately negotiated agreement. Please reach out in advance to discuss your plans so we can confirm what’s possible and ensure the best experience for everyone.

Do you have air conditioning?

Due to its age (built in 1850 and added to bit by bit) Midwood’s Big House does not have central air conditioning. Window air-conditioning units are installed in bedrooms during the summer months for guest comfort.

The house’s common areas tend to remain naturally cool, even in warmer weather, thanks to the scale, construction, and airflow of the building.
