The Big House

Built in 1885 and featured in Martha Stewart Living magazine, The Big House is the heart of the Midwood estate — a 12-bedroom Gilded Age mansion overlooking the mighty Hudson River from the banks of the Hudson Valley.

Each of the 12 bedrooms is richly furnished and full of character. Most have private bathrooms. The formal dining room seats 16+ comfortably. The double living room is spacious enough for large group gatherings and intimate enough for a quiet evening by the fire. The kitchen is fully equipped with a professional-grade stove, new refrigerator, and plenty of room to cook for a crowd.

Step outside onto the west-facing porch (sunset alert!) and you’ll understand why this place has been gathering families for over a century. The Hudson river stretches wide before you, the Catskill Mountains rise on the far bank, and ships sail past day and night — to the endless delight of guests of all ages.

The Big House accommodates up to 20+ guests and is available for weekend, week-long, and extended stays.
